Amelia Rose – Director: Prior to coming to Rhode Island, Amelia spent four years in Washington, DC where she worked as an organizer for the Washington Interfaith Network focusing on campaigns to improve housing code enforcement and hold DC police accountable to Spanish-speaking residents of the city. During this time she also worked with the Unitarian Universalist Association advocating for federal human needs programs like Medicaid and Head Start. Most recently she worked in Rhode Island as an organizer for Toxics Action Center, providing organizing assistance to residents working on environmental campaigns in their towns. Amelia is originally from Northern Virginia and graduated from Mary Washington College where she studied Anthropology.
Julian Rodríguez-Drix – Programs Coordinator: Julian comes to the EJ League from ACE (the Alliance for Climate Education), where he gave high school assembly presentations about climate change to tens of thousands of students across New England. He has worked within grassroots movements for environmental, social, and climate justice in a variety of ways, including co-founding Rising Tide North America, ShaleShock Action Alliance, and the Confluence Network. Julian graduated with honors from Brown University with a degree in Africana Studies, a department that became like family and where he met his future wife Gina. They have continued to live in Providence, where they work together to build community and strong movement. He believes in life, love, and liberation – and is inspired daily by the brilliant power of youth.
Board of Directors
The EJ League is currently governed by a 12-member Board. Board members are elected to serve two-year terms. These terms are staggered to ensure that the Board reflects the diversity of our communities and allows for the development of new leadership within the organization. The Board is made up of representatives from the community, as well as from the various organizations and groups which partner with the EJ League.
